In November, 10- 8th grade students were able to participate in the YMCA Youth & Government Mock Legislature in Albany, where they got to present bills and learn how bills get passed. We presented two bills, universal healthcare for all under 18 and a further expansion on single-use plastics in stores.
We are happy to say that both bills passed. One of our bills even got presented on the Assembly floor! We are extremely proud of the work that these young people have done.
8th graders: Jadiel P, Victor L, Nashira F, Elisa G, Kiara G, Gaby C, Milagros R, Isabella F, Elisa B, Joana G, Elisa G (also the President of Student Government) received a plaque for distinguish delegate! Please congratulate her and all the students who participated!
