FREE YOGA CLASSES!

Starting this Thursday, November 5th, 6-10pm, El Puente Leadership Center at Jonathan Williams Plaza will offer free yoga classes as part of the El Puente Green Light District Arts & Wellness Series (November-January). Becoming Me: El Puente youth share their experiences within the LGBTQ community

El Puente youth and Williamsburg Leadership Center Assistant Director Karina Lopez share their experiences within the LGBTQ community in this powerful video. Upholding El Puente's founding principle of Mentoring, this group of young people participate in El Puente's LGBTQ Mentoring group where youth find and build safe space to share their perceptions, emotions and experiences in community. 

El Puente Presente for NYC National Day of Climate Action

Today, staff members of El Puente's Green Light District and Taylor-Wythe Leadership Center participated in the NYC National Day of Climate Action, one of many actions taking place in over 100 cities across the United States. Environmental Justice groups throughout NYC gathered in front of Chase Manhattant Bank's Headquarters, calling on Chase to stop their investments in systems and industries that continue to disenfranchize, imprison and pollute our communities. 
 

El Puente Founder and President, Luis Garden Acosta Honored at WE ACT Gala

Please join El Puente in celebrating a distinct honor for our Founder & President, Luis Garden Acosta. We ACT a leading environmental justice organization honored Luis at their Annual Gala reception, “Promoting Diversity in the Environmental Movement”, onTuesday, September 29th.
 
We ACT honors Luis “efforts to launch and develop the Latino Climate Action Network” as “one more extraordinary initiative” that “befits his legacy”.
 
Saludos to Luis for his determined effort to empower the Latino voice in the national public policy discourse on global warming, especially, as related to Puerto Rico and those most at risk in the Caribbean and Continental United States.
