El Puente Beacon Winter Recital


El Puente Beacon is proud to present their annual Winter Recital in the Middle School 50 Auditorium. This year we have a special group of 8th grade soloists - all of whom have been consistent members for at least three years. El Puente Beacon will be presenting 2 shows on the evening of December 16th and in the afternoon on December 19th - two chances to catch this amazing show by El Puente young people!

El Puente Awarded Invest In Youth Grant from the Brooklyn Community Foundation

In late November, El Puente was selected as one of 54 nonprofit organizations to receive funding from the Brooklyn Community Foundation for their Invest In Youth program. This grant will continue to allow us to engage and empower youth in North Brooklyn to be leaders through campaigns and initiatives focused on environmental justice, climate change, community safety, and racial/cultural equity. We are honored to be a part of this new youth focused initiative and excited to be partnering with the Brooklyn Community Foundation. 

El Puente supports overburdened North Brooklyn Community to Demand Action on Trash Facilities

North Brooklyn residents held a forum on November 30th, 2015, to push for City action on waste transfer stations. The residents called for legislation to reign in private sanitation companies and enforcement to stop ongoing abuses. The event was hosted by Clean Up North Brooklyn, Transform Don’t Trash NYC, El Puente, and New York City Environmental Justice Alliance, and assisted more than 150 people, most of them whom are residents and business owners affected by the daily operations of the Brooklyn Transfer Waste Station located in Thames and Grattan Streets in Bushwick.

El Puente Co-Founder Gino Maldonado to be Honored at Los Sures Puerto Rican Heritage Event

El Puente's co-founder and Chielf of Operations Eugenio (Gino) Maldonado will be honored at tonight's Southside United - Los Sures Puerto Rican Heritage month event at the Eastern District YMCA (125 Humboldt Street).

Throughout his life, Gino has dedicated himself to the betterment of his community. Aside from his leadership at El Puente, he has been a motivating leader for fair housing for the Latino Community in Williamsburg. He is a founding Board Member of Beginning with Children, and is affiliated with many community-led coalitions and organizations such as the Broadway Triangle Community Coalition, Montefiore Hospital Rehabilitation Center, Salud Coalition, I have a Dream Foundation, and many more. 

The El Puente family extends our congratualtions to our beloved leader on this well deserved honor!.
