CHE INSTITUTE:
CHE Activistas - Brownfield Projects

The CHE Activistas are collaborating with the New York City Environmental Justice Alliance (NYCEJA) and the NYPIRG's Community Mapping Assistance Project to document brownfields - abandoned or underused industrial or commercial site where reuse is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination - in North Brooklyn. CHE has recognized the blight these brownfields pose to the surrounding community and is working on identifying these areas using GIS technology to map them, and working with the new Brownfield Law to remediate them and ensure they are redeveloped in a way that benefits the well being of the community. To view a current land use map of North Brooklyn visit www.cmap.nypirg.org.
